Kyoto, April 2025 --- Sokyo (Furumonzen) is pleased to present the solo exhibition ‘Interior and Exterior’ of British ceramicist Sam Chatto. In 2024, Chatto came to Japan as the first artist to participate in our gallery’s Artist-in-Residence program.

The Artist-in-Residence program was initiated as part of our commitment to environmental issues. Its primary aim is to reduce the transport of artworks for exhibitions in order to minimize CO2 emissions. The invited artists will create in Kyoto using local materials, collaborate with local artists and artisans, exhibit, as well as engage with Kyoto's traditional culture, arts and local communities. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to the creation of a better society through art.
