Exhibiting Artists: Bernard Leach, Edgar Sarin, Kawai Kanjiro, Kimiyo Mishima, Shoji Hamada, Sylvie Auvray, Tony Marsh.
In an era of rapid modernization in Japan, Kawai Kanjiro conveyed the importance of harmony with nature. Building on this philosophy, we present an exhibition in a forest-like setting built with moss and local plants, featuring not only Kawai’s collaborators in the Mingei movement—Shoji Hamada and Bernard Leach—but also contemporary artists influenced by Mingei. Artworks by Kimiyo Mishima, who is known for her critique on mass production, will also be on display. Through this presentation, we seek to explore a more environmentally conscious model for art fairs.
